So, Vanessa is in 5th grade band this year. It has been interesting. The first quarter she was all excited and practiced regularly. Now that there is only one quarter left we can barely get her to look at her instrument. She signed up for percussion. She started with the xylophone, then the snare drum and finally the bass drum. It is cute to watch her switch around at the concerts. It is also nice that the percussionists stand at the concerts. It is easier to see her. Next year I am going to encourage her to learn something different. Since she already read music from piano and the xylophone keyboard is so similar to piano she got bored quickly.
