More weird medical stuff
So Christopher has this skin thing called molluscum. It is a common childhood pox virus. The doctor diagnosed it for me when I showed her one back in May when they were removing the stitches from the thumb incident. See back post for more details! Anyway, she said they bumps can be around anywhere from a couple months to two years. Some will develop a white head that contains the virus and it if pops to be very careful cleaning the area and washing hands to not spread it. She said they don't treat it unless they become infected because the treatment can be worse than the illness. Well, two infected bumps and therefore two rounds of antibiotics later...we are still dealing with it. The first round of antibiotics caused him to get a fever 5 days in and then a rash. Apparently he is allergic to penicillin / amoxicillin. Great! So, when the second one got infected we thought the first round just had not killed off the infection since he reacted to it. So the doctor gave him a different antibiotic. Those ones are healing; although, not as fast as we would like. What we are worried about is the other 12 or so bumps. It is not like he can just be on antibiotics for the next 12 months. So we turned to our trusty, dusty herbs and natural stuff. It is helping. Hopefully we will have this nipped soon.
