Vanessa decided two weeks ago to read the Harry Potter books again (she first read them last summer) before the movie came out. I could not believe she got through all 7 of them in just under two weeks. They are thick books. We were going to go to the midnight release of the 6th movie but when I found out it was 2.5 hours long (I forgot they are all pretty long) we opted to go the next night but still opening day Wednesday July 15, 2009. 3am was not sounding that great. And, Vanessa barely made it up past midnight this past New Years Eve. We met up with some friends. We were first in line for our showing time and got the best seats in the house.
When we went to buy our tickets the night before at 4pm we saw people arriving to wait in line for the midnight showing. Some were dressed up. Vanessa decided she wanted to dress up. So Wednesday we went looking and were lucky enough to get a robe, tie and wand that lights up and makes noise. She paid for the robe and tie. I paid for the wand. It will double as her Halloween costume. Her friend came over in the afternoon to make a Harry Potter t-shirt. It turned out cute. It was so fun to see her so excited about something. Her and her friends even got told to slow down by Harkins staff when they started running on the way into the theatre.
We'll try to do the midnight release for the last movie!
