Grand Canyon Day 3

Today we went up to the top of the North Rim and back to Cottonwood Camp. 14 miles roundtrip. Took us 9 hours. They are steep miles...

Roaring Springs. You really could hear it from far away.

Jeanne at snacktime

We crossed lots of bridges today

The rock is red on the outside and white on the inside. A Geologist Professor we met at the top told us why. I don't remember the reason other than the red is iron leaching out of the rocks just like Sedona. This guy was on sabbatical from a college in Ohio. He had ran from Flagstaff and then was running the Canyon rim to rim to rim.

And now we are in the tall trees. Yay! Almost there.

Coconino Overlook. Looking back at the South Rim where we started from originally. If you really squint you can see Mt. Humpfreys in the distance. We could see snow on it.

Yes, there was snow at the top.

Proof I made it all the way

Toe repair. I love duct tape!

That zig zag brown line in the middle is the trail on the way back down where we are headed.

So they can build stuff like this

We had a good laugh over the amount of pills I brought compared to Jeanne. Mine are in the purple container. Hers are on the lid.

Our Cottonwood friends. These guys were doing the same trip as us so we kept running into them all the time. It was fun. Denise, Rob and Bob.
