To top off a slightly busy spring break week Paul ended up in the hospital overnight. Wednesday he got a really bad headache along with dizziness, blurred vision and numbness on his left side. He called our Elders Quorum president who is a physician's assistant that said go straight to the nearest ER. Paul was driving on the 101 in Scottsdale at the time so he stopped at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborne. Turns out they are stroke center. They were very fast and thorough. When he walked into the ER and stated his symptoms to the intake person she said someone was coming to get him. They were there before he could even turn around. They took him straight to an EKG machine and also finished a CT scan before I even arrived.
They kept him overnight. He was there about 24 hours total. All the bloodwork, heart and brain tests, including the MRI done at 3am, came back normal. The diagnosis was complex migraine with transient neurological symptoms. They gave him pain meds, nausea meds and some blood thinners just in case before they were able to rule out stroke since it presented that way.
