Owie!

Christopher's new word this week is owie. Last Saturday night he cut his thumb pretty badly. He was climbing over a ladder that was laying down on its side. We think the ladder fell over with his thumb somehow caught on one of the catches. Thankfully the x-ray looked good. This first picture is of the nurses wrapping him up in a sheet to hold him still while the doctor probed and stitched it. It is a little blurry because I took it with my phone. Some of the pictures have blood so if you are squeamish don't look. He was so brave at the hospital. He did not cry for the x-ray or the numbing shot. It was not until they were holding him down and stitching it that he cried. Even then he did not scream at the top of his lungs. He has already missed two swimming parties. He was so good then too. He wanted to be in the pool very much but did not cry like a 2 year old when he could not. The stitches come out tomorrow.

We have been changing the bandage everyday. It has only gotten wet twice (accidentally). It is looking much better with the swelling down. The hospital said not to clean it at all so I am hoping when they take the stitches out we can clean off some of the dried blood. By Wednesday he started using that hand again and by Friday he was using his thumb again.
